Good for you

Chillis don’t just taste good, they are good for you too.

When you eat a chilli and your mouth burns, your lips sting, your eyes water and you sweat; your brain responds by telling your heart to pump faster and releases endorphins into your system to cope, which eventually leaves you feeling more relaxed and happy.

If you’ve experienced that, CONGRATULATIONS, it’s called a chilli rush and is one of the reasons why people become addicted to eating chillis and experimenting with hotter varieties.  It simply makes you feel good.

But not only do they make you feel good, they’re good for you too.  Chillis have a high level of Vitamin C, in fact twice that of citrus fruit, and the redder they are the more they have.   Red chillis are also high in beta-carotene and dried chillis are full of vitamin A.    All things that are believed to help prevent diabetes, treat arthritis, ease congestion; as well as boosting metabolism and preventing some cancers.

So, do your body and soul a favour, get more chillis in your diet.  And don’t worry if you’re not up to eating the hot ones just yet, the more you eat, the more you become accustomed to the heat.  Don’t rush it, enjoy the journey.

Now a WORD OF WARNING, whilst eating chillis can have positive health effects, some of the chillis we grow are SERIOUSLY HOT.   These are not to be taken lightly.  Please make sure you only take heat levels that you are comfortable with.
